8U RULES

1. Games will be 1-hour, 20 minutes drop dead. 
2. Coaches are encouraged to have each player play each position during the season.
3. Players cannot sit 2 out two consecutive defensive innings. 
4. 10” RIF1 Ball. 
5. 60’ Bases. 
6. Pitching Plate Distance: 30 feet (from tip of home plate to front of rubber). 
7. Pitch Rules: A coach/pitcher will enter the circle when the player/pitcher has pitched 4 balls (walk) called by the umpire. Coach must pitch “legal” pitches from pitching rubber. 
   1. The coach/pitcher will assume the player/pitcher strike count. 
   2. Coach/pitcher must have one foot on the rubber when pitching. 
   3. If the pitch is not put into play by the last pitch, the batter is out. Exception: If the last pitch is a foul ball, pitching continues until the ball is hit and put in play or the batter is called out. 
   4. Batters will NOT be awarded a base on a Hit by Pitch from the coach/pitcher, but will be on a player/pitcher. 
   5. If a batted ball hits the coach/pitcher the ball is dead and the batter is out. At no time shall the coach/pitcher obstruct play. 
   6. Player/Pitcher must have one foot in the circle and behind pitching rubber at the time the coach/pitcher is pitching. 
8. Switch sides after 5 runs max per half inning or 3 outs. 
9. Continuous batting order with all players present at game. 
10. If a player is out they must come off the field. 
11. Lead-off on release of the ball. One stolen base per pitch from a player/pitcher only. 12. Runners can advance on an overthrow when the ball stays in fair territory; runners can be tagged out. Runners can advance only 1 base on an overthrow when the ball enters into foul territory. 
12. Home is closed. A runner at 3rd cannot go home on a throw from the catcher to 3rd, but can be called out if tagged. Other runners can advance if there is a throw to 3rd. 
13. No bunts, No throwing bats, 2 warnings for the team, after that, it is an out (safety precautions).
14. No infield fly rule. 
15. No forfeits: Teams can borrow current rostered WSGV players from the same league or opposing teams in the same division or lower. Borrowed players will assist only in the outfield and bat last in the batting order. 
16. Defense: 10 players – Catcher, Pitcher, 1st, 2nd, SS, 3rd, and 4 outfielders, no infield rover. 18. The defensive catcher will be in full gear. The catcher shall stand away from the plate until the batter swings, then field the position defensively. (There is no dropped third strike 
    rule.) 
17. The home team is the official scorekeeper and is the official recorder for the game.
