Welcome to our newest board members!

On behalf of the entire team here at MPK Pony Baseball and USA Softball, I want to extend a warm and enthusiastic welcome to you as our newest board members! We are absolutely thrilled to have you on board and are eager to embark on this exciting journey together.

Your decision to join our team couldn't have come at a better time. The expertise and experience within our new board members are precisely what we need to take our organization to new heights. Your dedication and passion for helping our youths align perfectly with our goals, and we are confident that your contributions will be invaluable as we work towards our shared vision.

Introducing Vanessa Gavia, a dedicated full-time teacher in Alhambra and the current coach for our 12U Softball team. Vanessa has been an integral part of our league for the past 8 years, bringing passion and expertise to every aspect of the game. When Vanessa isn't shaping young minds in the classroom, she's out on the field coaching her daughters, Kylie and Alexi, and exploring new adventures with them. Her commitment to both her family and our community is truly inspiring.

As Softball Division Director, Vanessa will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our softball programs, from player registration and team formation to game scheduling and coach coordination. Her leadership will create a welcoming and inclusive environment where young athletes can thrive and develop their skills and love for the game.

In her role as All-Star Director, Vanessa will identify and select top-performing players to represent our organization in prestigious tournaments and competitions. With her discerning eye for talent and unwavering commitment to excellence, she will assemble competitive teams that bring honor to our league both on and off the field. Vanessa's dedication and expertise make her the perfect fit for these critical roles, and we're excited to see the positive impact she'll make on our organization. Please join us in welcoming Vanessa to her new positions!

Next up on our board is Lindsay Martinez, a proud Angeleno with deep roots and a rich cultural heritage. Born and raised in LA, Lindsay is thrilled to represent her Half Mexican/half Ecuadorian background as a first-generation Latina. After spending a decade in MPK, she returned to ELA with a mission to enhance the city and reconnect the children with their cultural roots. Lindsay's heart belongs to her husband, whom she's been married to for 13 wonderful years, and their two amazing children—her son in baseball winning with the Monarchs, and her daughter in Softball proudly playing for the Trash Pandas Black. And let's not forget, she's a die-hard Dodgers fan through and through!

Beyond her love for baseball and the Dodgers, Lindsay's passions extend to exploring new places, savoring diverse cuisines, immersing herself in different cultures, and embracing every moment with joy and gratitude. As a devoted parent, she's committed to giving her kids the opportunities she never had while cherishing each day as a precious gift—a lesson reinforced by the challenges of Covid-19.

Now, Lindsay is stepping into the role of Team Rep and Events Director, and we couldn't have asked for a more qualified individual. In this capacity, Lindsay will ensure the seamless coordination of both teams' activities and events. Serving as the liaison between team representatives and the board, she'll foster effective communication and a strong sense of camaraderie. Lindsay will be responsible for disseminating crucial information to Team Representatives, as well as organizing team-building events and social activities to strengthen team unity.

Finally we have Lupe Zaragoza, originally from Monterey Park and now calling Montebello home. Lupe pursued her education in Electrical Engineering at UCLA, followed by earning a Master's degree in Systems Engineering and Business. Alongside her academic pursuits, she's a dedicated mother to two children, one of whom participates in the Mustang Division. Thrilled to contribute, Lupe eagerly joins the MPK board. who will be stepping into the essential role of Compliance Officer within our organization. As Compliance Officer, Lupe will oversee ensuring that our youth baseball and softball league operates within legal, regulatory, and ethical boundaries. This includes developing and implementing policies to adhere to league rules, child protection laws, safety standards, and organizational bylaws. Lupe will also be responsible for identifying and addressing potential risks, monitoring league activities, conducting audits, providing education and training on compliance matters, investigating misconduct allegations, and maintaining accurate records. Lupe's role is crucial in safeguarding the integrity and accountability of our league, prioritizing the safety and well-being of all participants.

Please join us in welcoming Vanessa, Lindsey and Lupe as the newest members of the MPK Pony Baseball and USA Softball Board of Directors! We are all thrilled to have you part of this amazing team and looking forward to doing big and exciting things!

Thank you
